PRS Launch McCarty 594 Soapbar Guitars!

Last year PRS announced their McCarty 594, and it's one of their most popular models.
Now, they've introduced the Mccarty 594 Soapbar with p90 pickups!

What's new?

Now you are caught up, we can talk about the new changes. Obviously the key difference is the pickups, instead of using humbuckers like most of the core PRS range, these use P90-style soapbar pickups for a very different tone.

Why do this? Well, if you are making the best McCarty of all time, why not honour some of his earliest work? This guitar takes a look back to the early 50s and the solid body guitars McCarty was making around that time.

The pickups in this new version are a first for PRS in a long time. They are actually using P90s designed in collaboration with Seymour Duncan. Based on the beautiful-sounding P90 Antiquity with some slight modifications, these are true P90s that sound like P90s should.

History of the McCarty

The original PRS McCarty came out in the 90s and was a product of Paul Reed Smith working closely with the legendary Ted McCarty. Not only was it a great sounding and playing guitar, it was consistently built to impeccable standards. That was unheard of at the time, and is one of the reasons you can now buy a guitar online without having to worry about if you are getting a dud or not.

Last year, PRS updated the McCarty to have an all-new neck profile, scale length and pickups. The changes were small, but it made a world of difference turning this from a great guitar, to something you will never ever want to put down once you pick it up.
