NAMM 2026: day 4 highlights
Just ’cause it’s the last day of NAMM, doesn’t mean the news has slowed down! Some big hitters made our day four roundup — including Gibson, Strandberg, Friedman Amps and more:
Gibson & Epiphone: upgraded ES guitars, Les Paul Studio ‘Double Trouble’, Futura Series & more
Gibson and Epiphone have rocked up to NAMM with a raft of new models that look absolutely mint. Their lineup stretches along one of the Anaheim Convention Centre’s long corridors, giving everyone a prime view at what they’ve been working on. Here are the biggest talking points:
- Gibson Custom ES-330 Reissues: The legendary ES‑330’s back in the Gibson Custom catalogue for the first time in eight years. With more players going direct or gigging on silent stages, there’s never been a better moment for those expressive P‑90 tones and the airy resonance of a fully hollow Gibson. The 1959 and 1962 ES‑330 Reissues deliver two distinct vintage flavours, each rolled out in period‑correct colourways. These will land in summer 2026.
- Gibson ES-335 ‘50s & ‘60s models: The ES‑335 has been the go‑to “Swiss Army Knife” of guitar players for nearly 70 years. For 2026, Gibson are elevating the 335 in the core lineup with fresh ’50s and ’60s‑inspired finishes. Each is built in Nashville using the same laminate press that shaped the 335s played by countless icons. Expect era‑specific plastics, neck carves and pickups.
- Gibson Les Paul Studio ‘Double Trouble’: Following the success of the Standard ‘50s & ‘60s Double Trouble models, Gibson are now bringing that crowd‑pleasing look to a more accessible price point. Based on the beloved Les Paul Studio, this new run features gloss nitro finishes and matching Double Classic White Burstbucker Pro pickups with coil‑tapping. We should be seeing these around springtime.
- Epiphone Futura Series: These axes are unapologetically bold — taking classic Gibson shapes and giving them a futuristic, modern‑player makeover. The standout feature is ‘Chromashift’ finishes that literally change colour depending on the angle. Add in stainless steel frets, compound‑radius ‘boards and ProBucker Ignite pickups, and you’ve got stellar performance at a price every player can reach.
- New Gibson signature guitars: A load of big signature releases dropped at NAMM too — including the Gary Clark Jr. ES‑355, a spot‑on recreation of Mick Ronson’s ’68 Les Paul Custom, the Michael Schenker 1971 Flying V, plus Mark Morton’s new Les Paul Modern Quilt.
There’s plenty more to check out, so we’ll let Lee, Pete and Gibson’s Dinesh Lekhraj take it from here…
